Magnus: before packing - 2 days before takeoff.

We have been phoning car rental firms all day to find out the best prices and conditions. It is not easy. I think we will try to rent the car directly in the US. They talked about a deposit of $500. That sounds much.

Anyway, we haven't started packing yet and tomorrow is my last day at work. We are so excited to meet Staffan and Masja AND the family conference in just ONE WEEK. We've made business cards to hand out so we are ready.

The girls are also quite excited, allthough they don't know how many hours we'll be on the flight from London to San Diego. Well, wish us good luck!

Framme!

Vi har kommit fram. Det är nu kväll igen. Vi kom igår vid 5tiden på eftermiddagen californisk tid. Det jobbigaste under resan var passkontrollen i Phoenix som tog lång tid eftersom det var mycket folk. Dessutom var det outhärdligt varmt utanför - mer än 45 grader i ökenhettan.

Barnen uppförde sig näst intill exemplariskt på hitresan. En del mindre och större utbrott, men för det mesta så satt de fint på sina platser, eller gick runt i planet. Agnes satt och lyssnade på kassetter och båda barnen somnade med ojämna mellanrum.

Vi försökte hålla oss vakna så länge som vi kunde igår kväll - vi fick alltså se vår första Californiska solnedgång - de bor ju med utsikt över Stilla Havet. Barnen somnade tidigare, vilket gjorde att de vaknade 2 på morgonen, men somnade igen framåt morgonkvisten. Vi åt frukost vid 7 och dagen har artat sig bra. På eftermiddagen har vi varit nere vid stranden och badat. Varmt i vattnet och stora vågor, fin sand och ganska mycket folk. Vi fick testa surfbrädor och allt var bra.

Nu är det snart dags för en solnedgång till och vi börjar känna oss ganska så slut igen. Det är Jetlag som ligger bakom kantänka.

Magnus tredje dagen

Nu har det blivit onsdag och vi har hunnit med en hel del tycker jag.

Igår var vi på San Diego Zoo, som var mycket imponerande. Både till storlek och till mångfald. Vi såg ett stort antal djur - giraffer, flodhästar, noshörningar och apor hörde till dem som vi tyckte bäst om. Vi var där hela dagen med Masja och med båda barnen. Vi kom inte hem förrän till kvällen, och då gick vi och badade i havet igen. Vi försöker lära oss att ligga på vågorna med en "boogie board" eller hur det nu stavas, som är en mycket liten surfingbräda. Ibland känner man hur man följer med vågorna och åker flera meter inåt land. Det är en härlig känsla. Vädret är alldeles lagom, på morgnarna är det disigt fram till 9tiden och då kommer solen fram. Det blir inte mer än 25 grader på dagarna och det går ju bra. Framåt 8tiden på kvällen går solen ner och en halv timme senare blir det mörkt.

På fredag förmiddag åker vi till Los Angeles med tåg och lämnar barnen hos Staffan och Masja.

Magnus: home from the conference

Hi all Americans we met at the conference!

We are so happy we decided to come and visit you and the Annual Catholic National Family Conference. We met so many nice people and so many role models. That was just what we'd been hoping for: To find parents to large families living out their faith and showing their happiness and gratitude to our Lord.

We got so many good ideas of what we can achieve here in Sweden! One idea is to plan a pilgrimage from the US to Sweden and Scandinavia. Wouldn't that be something. If we could have some of the awesome speakers from this conference, I am sure you could have a great gathering in Sweden – meeting devout people from the US and Sweden. What do you think?

It was also great to see all the good literature and tapes around. And all t-shirts all other Catholic "paraphernalia". We really engulfed in it, and bought home a lot. Right now we are still in the US, in San Diego, for another two weeks. We really enjoy the weather and the water. It's treat to swim in the Ocean in the afternoons.

Our two kids got along well with their grandfather while we were away, but we missed them terribly! It good to be together again!

Agnes (4 ys) wanted me to write that we sing songs in English. We use to sing some songs from the Youth2000 meetings with our kids – and they really enjoy it, even though they can't say many words in English, apart from "I love you" and "Bye Bye". The lyric is something like this: "I rejoice when they said to me, let us go into the house of the LORD. Standing there in Jerusalem, in your gates, into the house of the Lord."

Magnus: Sunday visit

Hi everybody. We have not officially visited St Agnes Church in San Diego. It was a beatifully looking little church on Point Loma, Ocean Beach, in white and wood.

The mass celebration was warm and walcoming, even though we though that some dressed for to "hot" weather. We should really dress up when we go to church, and adhere to the virtue of modesty. We can not complain too much though, since our children were quite loud during mass. Agnes really enjoyed to be in "her" church, and we have told here the history of St Agnes.

One week left of our stay in the US. I am already missing the beach and the sun. It has really been an adventure for us - blessed be the Lord.
