My name is Lisa Wetterberg, and I am a 25-year old convert, living in Sweden. I have been married for four years and have two daughters, Agnes aged 3 years and Maria five months. I have a Degree of Bachelor of Arts with a major in Musicology, and I have also studied Literature and Russian. I have worked as a teacher, assisting children with special needs, in the only Catholic School in Stockholm, (this was when I was expecting my first child). For the past year and a half, up until my second child was born I worked half time in a small Catholic bookshop. Right now I stay at home with my children and try to translate a book about marriage when they nap. My husband is an IT-coordinator at a bank.
I was raised in an extremely secular environment, where my parents, who are divorced since 1980, "celebrated" their wedding day by leaving the state church. My father claims to be an atheist, and my mother is just anti-religious. In spite of this I found my Faith in 1991 when the Lord just let me know how much he loved me and that I needed to be baptized, which I had never been as an infant. Guided by several good catholic friends and a kind priest I was baptized, confirmed and I received my first Communion on my 18th birthday, only four months after my experience of the Lord calling me to the Church.
I met my husband Magnus in 1993 and we were married in 1995. He was a lukewarm protestant, but with an open mind and heart. We entered a mixed marriage but somehow the Lord gave me the grace never to doubt that Magnus would come home when he was ready. In 1997, when our oldest daughter was nine months old, he was received in the Church on the feast of St. Joseph, in the presence of a few good friends and a skeptic Wetterberg family. We still joke and say that our oldest daughter Agnes is older in the Faith and Church than he is
We are both active in our church, taking part in a Bible study every other week, where we at present watch "Our Father's Plan" and have discussions afterwards. We have participated as speakers at two pre-marital seminars, and have also talked to teenagers about marriage as part of their preparation for confirmation. We try to promote NFP, hoping to help priests and lay people.
I am a great fan of both Dr. Scott Hahn and Kimberly Hahn. I have several of their tapes and have read "Rome Sweet Home" at least three times. When I prepared for my reception in the Church I never studied the Bible, so this Bible study is exciting and I hope to be able to share some of this insight in the future with people here in my country.
I enjoy writing and it has been a dream of mine to some day become a journalist, especially since it's the kind of work you can do as a mother, being at home with your kids.
